Ingredients:
500 grams beef, thinly sliced
1 onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons Xawaash spice blend (recipe below)
1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1 teaspoon black pepper
Fresh cilantro or parsley for garnish (optional)
Xawaash Spice Blend:
2 tablespoons ground cumin
2 tablespoons ground coriander
2 tablespoons ground paprika
1 tablespoon ground turmeric
1 tablespoon ground cardamom
1 tablespoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions:
In a bowl, combine all the ingredients for the Xawaash spice blend. Mix well and set aside.
Heat the vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium heat.
Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pan. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent and lightly browned.
Add the thinly sliced beef to the pan and cook until it's browned and cooked through.
Sprinkle the Xawaash spice blend, salt, and black pepper over the beef. Stir well to coat the meat evenly with the spices.
Continue cooking for a few more minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
Remove the beef suqaar from the heat and garnish with fresh cilantro or parsley, if desired.
Serve the beef suqaar hot with rice, bread, or a side of vegetables. It's also delicious with a squeeze of lemon or lime juice.
