Cake Recipe 3 Tier
Here's a recipe for a 3-tier cake that serves approximately 30-40 people:
Ingredients:
- 6 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 cups unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups granulated sugar
- 8 large eggs
- 4 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 cups buttermilk
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare three 9-inch (23cm) cake pans by greasing them and lining them with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a separate bowl, beat the butter until it's light and fluffy. Gradually add in the sugar, and beat until the mixture is creamy.
Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Then, stir in the vanilla extract.
Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Begin and end with the flour mixture, mixing until just combined after each addition.
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Smooth the tops with a spatula.
Bake the cakes in the preheated oven for approximately 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.
Once the cakes are cooled, level them using a serrated knife, if necessary.
To assemble the cake, place one layer on a cake board or serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting over the top. Repeat with the remaining layers, spreading frosting between each layer.
Finally, frost the outside of the cake, smoothing the frosting with a spatula or bench scraper.
Decorate the cake with fresh fruit, edible flowers, or other decorative elements, if desired.
